This week, our project was a large spacious room that allowed us to modernize and create a delightful space for our client to enjoy and relax in. The Project – Before
The very first thing to do before any project starts is to go through the plan with the client and our team. This makes sure that everyone is on the same page and if any last second changes are requested. Once this is done, the room can then be fully stripped out to a bare shell of plasterboard and brick.
After first fix plumbing, our team moves to complete first fix joinery. The main bulk of which is to ensure that the floor and joists are solid prior to relaying the floorboards. After this, preparation for tiling and electrical work is done. This includes laying down self-leveling compound on top of thermal construction boards, ensuring no moving under the floor tiles can occur.
The Project – After
Tiles are laid perfectly level with zero lippage thanks to a spacer and wedge system, ensuring a perfect 2mm grout line. These are then filled using Kerakolls cement resin-based grout, giving ultimate strength and resistance to moisture and mold whilst keeping environmental impacts to a minimum.
Once the room is grouted our team moves onto the final stages of the project. This begins with siliconing all corners and joints in the room. We do this because the flexibility of silicone means that as a house moves over time, no cracks will appear. This keeps the room as water-tight as possible whilst increasing the longevity of the work done. Everything we do is done with that perfect finish in mind.
We love the finish of this project and more importantly, our clients do even more so! A few key features are the beautiful gloss white free-standing bath which contrasts with the grey large format tiles. A lovely bright high gloss white brings the room to life, it the brightness that it needs and making the room feel so much more spacious than traditional plastered ceilings.
